SAUGUS – Mr. Norman B. Hansen, age 90, died on Monday, October 27th at the Port Health Care Center in Newburyport. He was the husband of the late Evelyn (Pratt) Hansen.
Born and raised in Berlin, NH, he was the son of the late Bjarne and Dagne (Johnson) Hansen and lived in Saugus since 1946. Mr. Hansen served as the Accountant for the town of Saugus, former Saugus Town Manager, Finance Committee Meeting member, Town Moderator, and member of the Board of Selectmen for six years. He also worked as an accountant for General Electric for 21 years. He was a member of the VFW, Sgt. Arthur F. DeFranzo Post 2346, the American Legion Post 210 – D.A.V. and the National Association of Accountants. Mr. Hansen was a former Treasurer for the Saugus American Little League and active in Saugus Youth Hockey. He was a United States Marine Corp veteran of WWII.
Mr. Hansen leaves five children, Nancy Bishop and her husband Ralph of Virginia Beach, VA, John Hansen and his wife Denyce of Saugus, Richard Hansen of Seabrook, NH, Janice DeFranzo and her husband John of Deerfield, NH, Eric Hansen and his wife Diane of Newburyport; fourteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Brother-in-law of Marian (Pratt) Shipulski of Saugus and Marilyn (Pratt) Ward and her husband Robie of Saugus. Cousin of Donald Sloane, Robert Sloane and his wife Gloria all of Berlin, NH. He is predeceased by one grandchild, Casey Hansen and two brothers, Lawrence Johnson and Robert Hansen.
Relatives & friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., SAUGUS on Thursday 4-8 p.m. Funeral on Friday from the funeral home at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service in the First Congregational Church-Saugus Center, 300 Central St., Saugus at 11 a.m. Interment Riverside Cemetery, Saugus.
