Ronald D. Muir, age 93, passed away September 22, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of the late Dorothy (Oakley) Muir. The two shared 60 happy years of marriage and resided in Saugus, Massachusetts and Naples, Florida.

Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on January 4, 1926, Ronald was the son of the late James and Emma (Dooley) Muir. He served for the United States Army and was a Korean Veteran. He then worked as a Crane Operator and a Custodian of Saugus High School. After retiring, Ronald and his wife Dorothy spent their winters together in Naples, Florida for 30 years. Ronald spent most of his time in Florida golfing, and he even earned two “holes-in-one”. He also enjoyed swimming at the pool and having his friends over for card games. Ronald was particularly friendly with his neighbors, whom he considered family, and he was always well-known for his energetic dance moves, especially the jitterbug.

Ronald is survived by his daughter Janet Thompson of Lynn, his son Glenn Muir and his wife Michelle of Saugus. He is also survived by his grandchildren Justin Thompson and his wife Shelly, Nicole and Courtney Muir and his four great grandchildren. Along with three sisters in law, Jessie Hampton, Sandra Oakley and Joan Oakley all of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and several nieces and nephews. Ronald was known as “Beba” to all of his grandchildren and “Ronnie” to all his friends. These two nick-names were commonly heard around a campground in Naples, Maine where every member knew his name. He spent his summers there relaxing by the lake, taking boat rides, and having dinner and ice cream at his favorite places with his family.

Ronald was preceded by his siblings Gerald, Harry and Clarence Muir.
