SAUGUS, formerly of East Boston and Revere, age 84, died on Wednesday, January 23rd at his home in Saugus.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Frazier) Gillespie. He worked as a Postal Clerk for the United State Post Office, Airport Division at the Logan Airport postal facility. He was a U.S. Army, Korean War veteran and had been a resident of Saugus since 1965.
Mr. Gillespie leaves three sons, Robert Gillespie, Jr. of Peabody, Steven Gillespie of Tewksbury, Mark Gillespie of Danvers; two brothers, Leo Gillespie of Saugus and Francis Gillespie of Stoneham. He is also survived by four grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son Brian Gillespie, 1 grandchild and four brothers, John, William, Arthur and Albert.
Relatives & friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., SAUGUS on Sunday, 4-8 p.m. Funeral from the funeral home on Monday at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Margaret’s Church, 431 Lincoln Ave., Saugus at 10 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
