(Beachmont)Revere - Mrs. Rita A. (Dolan) Turner, age 94, died on March 11th at the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center in Revere. She was the wife of the late Patrick “Greg” Turner.
Born and raised in Revere, Mrs. Turner was the daughter of the late Patrick Dolan and Isabelle (McGregor) Kiernan. She had worked as a telephone operator.
Rita was most happy visiting and socializing with family and friends. She loved traveling and cruising with her beloved Greg. She was an avid and lifelong bowler, card and Bocce player. She could frequently be found at the Revere Senior Center where she was lovingly known as the “Mayor of Beachmont”. Rita was always ready with a smile on her face to go anywhere and do anything to get the ‘group’ going.

Rita is survived by her six beloved children, Patricia Hughes and her husband William of Melrose, Gregory Turner and his wife Shirley of SC, Thomas Turner and his wife Mary of Revere, Theresa Colella and her husband George of Burlington, Benadette Leslie and her husband Timothy of Revere, Mary Jewkes and her husband Joseph of Wilmington; twelve cherished grandchildren, Shannon Philbrick, Jennifer Ortleb, Brian Hughes, Erin Cook, Steven Turner, Sean Colella, Stacie Colella, Michelle Mignogna, Matthew Leslie, Brendon Leslie, Amanda Leslie, Julie Jewkes; seven great-grandchildren, Declan, Ryan, Drew, Audrey, Lila, Max, Kendra; former daughter-in-law, Paula Turner of Saugus; many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, John and Thomas Dolan; three sisters, Isabel Ryan, Loretta Dolan, Mary Kiernan.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Rita’s name may be made to Revere’s Rossetti-Cown Senior Center, 25 Winthrop Ave., Revere, MA 02151.

Visiting hours will be held at the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., SAUGUS, on Friday, March 16th 4-8 p.m. A funeral will be held from the funeral home on Saturday, March 17th at 7:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 9 a.m. Relatives & friends invited. Interment Holy Cross, Malden.
