Mr. John N. Hansen, age 70, died on May 5th of the COVID-19 virus. He was the husband of Denyce (Cappucci) Hansen with whom he shared 44 years of marriage.
Born in Melrose and a lifelong resident of Saugus, he was the son of the late Norman and Evelyn (Pratt) Hansen. John retired as a clerk for the United States Postal Service in 2015. Following his retirement from the postal service he continued working as Sealer of Weights and Measures for the Town of Saugus. His hobbies included golf, skiing, cycling, and other outdoor activities.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three children; Gianna Blanchard and her husband Alex of Stoneham, Lucas Hansen of Saugus and Rachel Petroccione and her husband Brian of Danvers, two grandsons; Rocco and Dean Blanchard. He was the brother of Nancy Bishop of Virginia, Richard Hansen of NH, Janice DeFranzo of NH and Eric Hansen of Newburyport. John is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Hansen family would like to thank the staff at Chestnut Woods Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Saugus for their compassionate care, kindness, respect, and love.
