FLORIDA—Mr. James E. Dwyer, age 70, died on February 2 at the Douglas T. Jacobson State Veteran's Home in Port Charlotte, FL. due to complications from Alzheimer's disease.
Born in Lynn and raised in Peabody, he was the son of the late James R. and Veronica (Walker) Dwyer. A graduate of Peabody High School and UMass Boston he served in the United States Marine Corps with a tour in Vietnam. After he returned home, Mr. Dwyer worked as a Deputy Sheriff at the former Charles Street Jail in Boston, before changing careers. He later worked his way up to sales manager for Portsmouth Ford. He enjoyed Irish music and had fond memories of his visits to Ireland.
He is survived by his five loving daughters; Lauren Roche & her husband James of FL, Katherine Dwyer of Saugus, Kelly Paress & her husband Louis of Marshfield, Maureen Dwyer of FL, Meaghan Toomey & her husband Robert of Danvers, ten grandchildren; Patrick, Michael, Ryan, Amber, Kaycie, Jordan, Alyssa, Grace, Jake, Cole and Abigail, with one great grandson Aiden. Dear brother of Eileen Berthelsen and her husband Tage of WA & Joan Psarros of FL. Also survived by many of his dear cousins, nieces & nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of MA, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
Visiting hours will be held in the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., SAUGUS, on FRIDAY from 4- 7:30 p.m. Relatives & friends invited. A Celebration of Life will be held in the funeral home following the visitation at 7:30 p.m.
