Francis Xavier Meaney, 81, passed away Thursday, April 13th, 2017 at the Mass General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts following a long battle with dementia.
Francis is survived by his wife of 60 years Sheila F (Donnelly) Meaney and leaves his daughters, Julie Ann Foulds, Tricia Donnelly, Ann Marie Brown, Susan Meaney DVM, and his son David and his wife Janet Meaney. He was predeceased by his daughter Kathleen Orlandella, his son in law Donald Foulds, his sister Terri Meaney and his parents Dr. David and Theresa Meaney. Francis leaves grandchildren Meaghan Mitchell, Donny Foulds Jr., Joseph Foulds, Terrance Brown, Patrick Connors, Connor Meaney, Jillian Reich, Jonathan Waterhouse and Jack Meaney as well as great grandchildren Sean Brown, Nicolas & Christopher Foulds, Isla May & Zachary Mitchell, Jake & Lila Reich, Makayla & Tyler Waterhouse.
Francis was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts on June 18th, 1935 and lived in East Boston, MA until his early adult life. He met his wife Sheila at the Immaculate Conception High School in Revere where he was a letterman on both the Football and Basketball teams. Frank and Sheila moved to Burlington, MA and started their family. They would later move to Revere, MA with their 6 children until his death.
During the time of Korean War when the draft was being implemented, Francis volunteered to enter the United States Marine Corps at 19 years of age. He was stationed on USS Coral Sea (CV-43) and USS Intrepid (CV-11) U.S. Aircraft carriers. Francis worked and retired from the New England Telephone & Telegraph company after 30 years.
Visiting hours will be held in the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., Saugus, on Thursday 4-6 p.m. Relatives & friends invited. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 6 p.m.
