Of Saugus, Mrs. Elizabeth “Betty” R. (Finley) Pugh, age 85, died at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose on Friday, October 18th. She was the wife of the late Ralph Pugh, Sr., with whom she had shared 58 years of marriage.

Born in Boston, and raised in Lynn, Mrs. Pugh was the daughter of the late Everett J. and Audrey (Forrester) Finley. Betty was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School. She had been a resident of Saugus since 1956 and was a very active member of the First Congregational Church in Saugus (Saugus Center).

Betty enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an avid Red Sox fan. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and traveling to Bermuda and New Hampshire with her husband.

Betty is survived by her five children, Ralph Pugh, Jr. and his wife Julie of Amesbury, Diane Jackson and her husband Roy of Plaistow, NH, Ronald Pugh and his wife Lisa of Saugus, Robert Pugh of Saugus, David Pugh and his wife Vilma of Newton, NH. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Christopher, Kerry and Matthew Jackson of Plaistow, NH, Sarah and Emily Pugh of Amesbury, Victoria, Ryan and Kaitlyn Pugh of Saugus, Caroline and Abigail Buckley of Lynnfield, Andrew Pugh of Newton, NH.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., SAUGUS on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday in the First Congregational Church, 300 Central St. (Saugus Center), Saugus at 11 a.m. Interment Riverside Cemetery, Saugus.
