Of Saugus, Mrs. Carol L. (Tarr) Cox, age 78, died on Friday, December 20, at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. She was the loving wife of William H. Cox, Jr.

Born in Lynn a life long resident of Saugus, Mrs. cox was the daughter of the late Richard and Dorothy (Sirois) Tarr. Carol was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She worked for IBM as a system engineer before becoming a stay at home mom. Carol was a longtime member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and a member of there choir for over 40 years. She enjoyed daily conversations with each of her children. She was an avid reader and solver of crossword puzzles, and followed the Boston sports teams, especially the Red Sox and Patriots. Carol enjoyed dining out at Hammersmith, IHoP, and the many seafood restaurants in Essex. She enjoyed going to the movies, concerts, the theater, and the symphony. Carol was a snowbird for twenty-two years where she and Bill had a house and many friends in Winter Garden Florida. Being near Disney World, she had lots of company and many visits to the Land of Imagination.
Carol is survived by her daughters, Deborah Cox of Saugus, Jennifer Sulyma & her husband William of Westwood & Cynthia Zahornasky & her husband Paul of Haverhill; three granddaughters, Nicole, Laura & Sarah Zahornasky; Sister, Catherine Tarr of Saugus and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Marilyn Tarr Schiappa.

Relatives & friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., SAUGUS on Thursday 4-8 p.m. Funeral Service in the St. John’s Episcopal Church, corner of Central St. & Prospect St., Saugus, Friday at 10 a.m. Interment Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Donations in her memory may be made to The Rev. Roger Nelson Scholarship Fund c/o St. John’s Episcopal Church, 8 Prospect St., Saugus MA 01906.
