PEABODY, formerly of Saugus - Mrs. Betty A. (Dougherty) Colpitts, age 82, died on Thursday, September 6th at her home in Peabody. She was the loving wife of Gerald F. Colpitts with whom she shared 38 years of marriage.
Born in Lawrence, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Beatrice (Taylor) Dougherty. She worked as a legal secretary for many years in Boston law offices. Betty was an avid reader and a huge Boston Celtics fan. She and her husband loved to travel to Hawaii, having visited there 29 years in a row. She had moved to Peabody 18 months ago after residing in Saugus for 50 years.
In addition to her husband, Betty leaves three beloved step-children, Gerald A. Colpitts and his wife Laurie of Plymouth, NH, Jeanette Karolides of Merrimack, NH, Joanne Colpitts of Port St. Lucie, FL; her cherished grandson Victor Bramante and his wife Amanda of Port St. Lucie, FL, two great-grandchildren, Halley and Madilyn Bramante. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Robert & Dianne Colpitts and Marsha & Dean Robinson for their love and support.
