Obituary

Mr. Allen F. “Snooky” Crabtree of Saugus & Pinellas Park, FL, died on January 1st at Tampa General Hospital. He was the husband of Donna (Fuller) Crabtree with whom he shared 32 years of marriage and the late Jean (Rooney) Crabtree.

Born in Worcester and raised in Saugus, he was the son of the late Charlie & Beatrice (Ploufle) Crabtree. A locksmith and general machinist by trade, Mr. Crabtree worked for many years at Boston University’s School of Medicine. He loved wintering in Florida, gardening, the beach, playing bridge, Sudoku and Texas Hold’em. Very adept at fixing things, he loved to tinker with what needed to be repaired. Snooky always had a puzzle on the table and encouraged others to join in. “Mr. Crabtree”, as the kids then called him, loved being a manager and coach of youth baseball for many years.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons, Allen Crabtree & his wife Jill of TX, Scott Crabtree & his wife Christina of Saugus & John DiMente & his wife Pamela of Billerica; 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was the step father of Scott MacLeod & his wife Kim of VA. Mr. Crabtree was the brother of Beatrice Meader of Saugus & the late Edward Crabtree. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He leaves special friends from high school, Donna & Danny, Ed & Robbie, Judy & Joe of MA & new friends in FL L & G, S & D, Mary, G & N and many more.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970.
